Ingredients 

Filling

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 0.5 cup Green Olives, sliced
  • 0.25 cup Raisins

Dough

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Butter, chilled and diced
  • 1 Egg
  • 0.75 cup Water, cold

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Add chopped onion and garlic, cook until soft.
  3. Stir in cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add olives and raisins. Cook for another 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg and water, mix until dough forms.
  5. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into circles. Place filling in the center of each circle. Fold and seal edges.
  6. Place empanadas on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
