French Onion Soup Recipe
A classic French onion soup with caramelized onions, beef broth, and a cheesy crouton topping.

- 4 large onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- ½ cup white wine
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices baguette toasted
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
3. Stir in sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
4. Add white wine and cook until reduced by half.
5. Add beef broth, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
6. Preheat the oven to broil.
7. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls, top with toasted baguette slices, and sprinkle with Gruyere cheese.
8. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
