Main Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 8 slices Rye Bread
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 large Onion sliced
- 2 tablespoon Butter
Special Sauce
- ¼ cup Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon Ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the special sauce. Set aside.
2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
3. Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook patties in the same skillet over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
4. Assemble the patty melts: Spread special sauce on each slice of rye bread. Place a beef patty on 4 slices of bread, top with caramelized onions and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices.
5. Cook the assembled sandwiches in the skillet over medium heat until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
