Persian Braised Lamb Shanks Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 4 pieces Lamb shanks
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 1 large Onion, chopped
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 1 cup Tomato sauce
- 1 cup Dried apricots, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the lamb shanks on all sides, then remove and set aside.
In the same pot, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until softened.
Add turmeric, cinnamon, and cumin. Cook for another minute.
Pour in the beef broth and tomato sauce. Stir well.
Return the lamb shanks to the pot. Add the chopped apricots, salt, and pepper.
Cover and transfer to the preheated oven. Braise for about 3 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
Serve hot with your choice of sides.
