Split Pea Soup Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 1 lb dried split peas rinsed and sorted
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 medium carrots chopped
- 2 stalks celery chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 lb ham hock
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper to taste
1. In a large pot, combine split peas, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, ham hock, and chicken broth.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until peas are tender.
3. Remove ham hock, chop meat, and return to pot. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve hot and enjoy!
